  • 6.6 million passengers passed through Heathrow in June 2014, an increase of 1.1% on June 2013 and a record for the month
  • Seats per aircraft increased 0.4% to 203.5, whilst load factors decreased 0.2 percentage points to 80.8%. Passengers per aircraft rose 0.2% to 164.5
  • Within the emerging markets, Turkey was up 7.5%, Mexico was up 6.2%, and China increased 5.7%
  • Cargo was up 4.7% overall, increasing 37.3% to Mexico, 23.4% to China and 16.7% to Brazil
  • June also saw the successful opening of Terminal 2: The Queen’s Terminal, almost 60 years after the original Terminal 2 opened as the airport’s first passenger terminal in 1955.

  • 6.2 million passengers passed through Heathrow in May 2014, an increase of 2.2% on May 2013 and a record for the month.
  • Air transport movements rose to 41,211, up 1.9% on May 2013.
  • Seats per aircraft decreased 0.1% to 202.6, whilst load factors grew by 0.4 percentage points to 75.1%. Passengers per aircraft rose 0.3% to 152.1.
  • Within the emerging markets, China was up 13.5%, Nigeria was up 7.6% and India was up 2.7%.
  • Cargo was up 6.9% globally, with Mexico increasing 54%, China increasing 38% and Brazil increasing 21%. The scale and growth of these important long haul markets shows the unique role of Heathrow as the UK’s hub – other London airports like Gatwick or regional airports like Birmingham are important but no substitute for capacity at the hub.
  • In May Heathrow unveiled its revised proposals for a third runway, which showed how only Heathrow can connect the whole of the UK to growth. The proposals included a pledge to double cargo capacity at Heathrow.

  • 6.2 million passengers passed through Heathrow in April 2014, up 6.7% on the month
  • Taking into account the Easter timing change from 2013, underlying growth was 1.9%
  • Seats per aircraft increased 1.3% to 205.6, whilst load factors increased 4 percentage points to 78.3%. Passengers per aircraft increased 6.7% to 161
  • Within the emerging markets, China was up 12.5%, Mexico was up 15.9%, and India was up 9.2%
  • Cargo was up 4.4% overall, increasing 26.8% to China, 25.1% to Mexico and 15.8% to Russia
  • April also saw Heathrow achieve a record Q1 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) passenger satisfaction score of 4.06, beating its previous best performance of 3.99 in Q1 2013
  • The proportion of passengers rating their overall experience with Heathrow as either ‘Excellent’ or ‘Very Good’ also increased to a record 80%

    • 25% above market value for properties subject to compulsory purchase
    • Stamp-duty costs on a new home
    • Legal fees paid
  • £550m allocated for noise insulation and property compensation in proposals to be submitted to Airports Commission this week - a major increase from previous proposals for a third runway
  • Heathrow will launch a consultation with local people on proposals this summer

  • 5.8 million passengers passed through Heathrow in March 2014, down 2.8% on March 2013
  • Seats per aircraft increased 1.9% whilst load factors decreased 3.6 percentage points, to 72.2%. Passengers per aircraft decreased 3% to 146.6
  • The reduction in traffic and load factors reflects the shift of Easter holidays into April this year, from March last year
  • Within the emerging markets, Mexico was up 19%, China was up 11.6% and Turkey was up 7.2%
  • Cargo was up 4% on the previous year
  • March saw Terminal 5 receive the Skytrax ‘World’s Best Airport Terminal’ award for a third year in a row, whilst Heathrow won the ‘Best Airport for Shopping’ for a fifth time at the World Airport Awards
  • March also saw Dubai Airport report higher international passenger numbers than Heathrow over a two month period for the first time

  • 4.9 million passengers passed through Heathrow in February 2014, up 1% on the previous year
  • Seats per aircraft increased 1.6%, whilst load factors decreased 0.3 percentage points on last year to 69.3%. Passengers per aircraft increased 1.1% to 139.6.
  • BRIC passengers were up 2.5%, with China increasing 14.8% and India up 2.2%.
  • February also saw Heathrow announce a new four times a week route to Bogota, operated by Avianca - the first direct connection from the UK to Colombia in nine years.
